I thought the title was appropriate because of the contest's inspiration from the Avatar

Anyway, this is my contest entry for =PearlEden and =kankakanka. I'm sure it won't win, but it was fun to do nonetheless, and got me to draw something a little out of the norm. ^^

For the Judges :: Character Description

The character is of the wind and air. With his slender wings, he glides below the sky, but cannot fly per say. He travels on drafts that rise from the bottom of cliffs, and floats between trees in the forests on lazy days. The chime hanging from his long, fluffy tail summons breezes of many kinds. As the gems that hang on various parts of his body change color, and the chime rings, a draft or a large gust will push him along. (Cooler colors bring scented breezes, while red and orange gems bring more violent gusts of air.)

The colors I painted him with were chosen because yellow and sometimes light blue are associated with the wind element. He was also given a small assortment of symbolic items (the chimes, flag, wings, feathers, and the amethyst gems). Since the element Air is associated with intellect and the mind, I had placed an amethyst gemstone on his third eye to stimulate thoughts and dreams. I also chose to display him in regular daylight to give more of an 'airy' atmosphere.

As for his physical appearance, I had no real reason why I picked it. He resembles that of a cabbit (cat/rabbit), and has the long slender body close to an Eastern dragon. When I think of wind/air, I think of light, fluffy, and soft things, like clouds and feathers. I guess that's one of the reasons that influenced me to pick this sort of body. Either that, or I just wanted something cute ^^
