[Introduction]
- - - - - Hello everyone! This is my sixth “annual” contest that I will be hosting here on deviantART.com and hope that you will find it interesting enough to participate in. The contest itself will run for the length of four months, and you will be given the option in extending that time limit slightly if need be. If you have participated in one of my contests before, the criteria and the way I run it won’t be any different ^_^

The main reason I am holding another contest so closely back to back from my other is that I will be in college by this coming fall and assume that I won’t have time to do this anymore, at least for the next four years. So as it stands now, this is going to be my last contest for a long while.

I would also like to thank ~catgirlnekochan for allowing me to build around her original idea she had for a previous contest she held that I participated in a while ago.



- - - - - For this contest, your objective is to draw one of my characters (or your own) with 5 or more random objects that I list below in the picture itself. Your goal is to use these 5 (or more) random objects, but make them fit together with the character to create a believable scene, even if it turns out silly in the end. Think of it as a creativity exercise. :3


[35 Random Objects/Symbols (Pick 5 or more)]
- - - - - A few rules apply to these objects and symbols. The most obvious one is that you need 5 within your picture, or you will be disqualified. Secondly, by five, I mean five different objects. Do not give me five cups or five stars unless presented with four other different objects. The third rule is to include them in the scene while keeping it believable. Also, remember you can use different forms of my objects (i.e. cup = mug, thermos, wine glass.) and the more objects you have in your picture—without it being cluttered, annoying, or overdone—the higher you will score during judging.

[Characters]
- - - - - The two main characters I have chosen for this contest are Hikaru and Rin. You can use your own character in the contest also, but I will award a small amount of extra points to those who used my own. Now, you are able to win using your own character, but those who draw mine will have a slight advantage (because they took a slightly bigger challenge). Choose whichever option appeals to you the most. ^_^

• All Requirements Present – To qualify, you need 5 or more different random objects within your picture, and one of mine, or your character.

• Multiple Characters – You can have as many characters as you want in your image (without making it too cluttered), and can add your personal character as well.

• Multiple Entries – This time around, I will only be accepting 1 entry per person. You may change your entry later on if you make two and think one is better than the other. Just make sure you note me with the changes.

• Open for all Artists – I don't care if you do digital art or color with pencils, pastels or paint. All mediums are accepted. One will not be held higher than the other. People who don't even watch me can enter this contest ^_^ (Although I would suggest you do after deciding to participate to stay updated on the competition.)

• Backgrounds – Although I will not disqualify you for not having a background to your image, it would be better if you did present one. It will heighten your chances of winning when it comes time for judging.



Popular Vote
- - - - - I will hold a popular vote within my journal about a week before my friend and I begin judging. We do not participate in this and will award points to the images that win the vote. Rules will be further disclosed at that time.

Personal Judging
- - - - - Like in the past, my judging will be done by myself and one or two friends. I changed the criteria slightly to fit the contest. The categories in which we’ll judge your image are as follows:

Creativity with the Random Objects
Balance of Objects in Scene (no clutter)
Number of Objects
Believable Scene
Picture Appeal
Used One of My Characters (Rin or Hikaru)
Popular Vote

* Brownie Points – These are given out totally at random, so if we like something you did that doesn’t fit underneath the above categories, we will award you brownie points which will further boost you in the competition.

Donations – This is something new. I do not require this by anyone whatsoever, but I will take up prize donations if you offer. In return, I will feature you in my journal and contest journal for your kindness through the duration of the competition. Most importantly though, if you put up a prize, you must hold up your end of the bargain. Also, you can donate a prize and still enter the contest. I will not judge you differently just because of your donation, and if you win the spot you’ve offered a prize to, it becomes invalid.

First Place – You will receive a fully colored digital image, shaded and highlighted with a detailed background of your one character of choice. You will also be featured in a news post I will make here on deviantART.com alongside of other previous contest winners.
